A GLASSLATHE: A SEMI-AUTOMATIC GLASS WORKING MACHINE FOR SCIENTIFIC GLASSBLOWING VIII

Electronics: Keyboard Unit

The diagram shows the keyboard unit. Using four lines from the peripheral selector bus, the keyboard is checked for a pressed key once every program cycle. The keyboard output is transformed to ASCII encoded characters by the EPROM which is configured as programmable logic. In practice, the keyboard was found to be less useful than the switch controls mounted on the headstock, tailstock and saddle which were read via the logic in out latches provided on the stepper motor controller boards.
