A GLASSLATHE: A SEMI-AUTOMATIC GLASS WORKING MACHINE FOR SCIENTIFIC GLASSBLOWING V

On this and other pages concerning the glass working machine, passing the cursor over the diagram below will generate a magnifier to observe details of the drawings. Using the mouse wheel the magnification can be varied. To give sufficient resolution to make the drawings useful, they need to be fairly large files and will take a few moments to load.

Electronics

The diagram shows the electronics of the glassworking machine. The main elements comprise a processor built round the Microchip PIC16F877 microcontroller, the stepper motor controllers based on the L297 stepper controller and the L298 dual bridge driver, and a keyboard system with an EPROM serving as a simple programmable logic chip. Details of these elements of the circuitry are given in subsequent pages in this section and are designed from the standards specifications of the chips concerned.
